Phoenix, AZ (February 22, 2022) – Police successfully apprehended a suspect after a car ran a red light and struck a 2-year-old boy in a Phoenix crosswalk on Sunday, February 20th.

A report filed by the Phoenix Police Department states that the accident happened at about 8:20 p.m. at the intersection of Glendale Avenue and 19th Avenue when a 2-year-old boy in a stroller being pushed by his uncle was struck by a car that ran a red light.

The child was taken by ambulance to a local hospital with a cracked skull, a brain bleed, a broken pelvis, and a broken wrist.

The driver, 21-year-old Davorah Jerrice Ross, initially fled the scene but was later arrested after allegedly confessing to the crime.

Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family at this time. We hope for their full recovery.

Critical Pedestrian Injuries in Arizona

If your pedestrian injuries were caused by a driver who broke the law or otherwise acted negligently, you are entitled to seek financial compensation from their insurance company. Arizona is an at-fault insurance state. This means after any kind of automobile accident, the injured victim will pursue financial recovery from the insurer of the at-fault driver. Their insurance company could have to cover the cost of your medical bills and other losses up to the policy’s limits.

An insurance adjuster may demand evidence to support your claim, like medical records and police reports. If the adjuster denies your claim or treats you unfairly, you might have to go to trial to secure your compensation. In order to see a successful outcome, your attorney will need to show that the defendant is at fault for your pedestrian accident. This is the burden of proof in all civil claims.

Going unrepresented in an Arizona pedestrian accident case could leave you vulnerable to considerable risks. For example, you could fall victim to bad faith tactics that ultimately reduce your award, like downplaying the severity of your injuries or denying your legitimate claim altogether.

Protect yourself and your rights by having the right lawyer on your side throughout the claims process. Hire a personal injury attorney in Arizona with years of experience handling pedestrian accidents and a proven track record of successful claim outcomes.
