Phoenix, AZ (March 24, 2022) – Impairment is being considered a factor in a head-on collision that killed one person and left two more injured on Wednesday, March 23rd in Phoenix.

An SUV traveling westbound on Thomas Road swerved into oncoming traffic at 50th Drive and struck a passenger vehicle at about 6:30 a.m.

48-year-old Angela Casas, the driver of the SUV, sustained life-threatening injuries and died at an area hospital.

A passenger in the SUV, as well as the driver of the car, were hospitalized with injuries believed to be non-critical.

We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim, Angela Casas, at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.

Head-On Accidents in Arizona

The National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration reported that head-on collisions make up about 7% of all car accidents in metropolitan areas and around 13% in rural areas. These accidents occur more frequently in rural locations because roadways are often narrow and poorly lit.

The leading causes of Arizona head-on accidents include:

  • Driving under the influence
  • Speeding
  • Distracted drivers
  • Drowsy drivers
  • Human error
  • Faulty auto parts
  • Insufficient vehicle maintenance

In Arizona, victims who are hurt in traffic accidents are entitled to pursue financial compensation for their damages from whoever is liable for the collision. Being awarded fair compensation, however, will require you to provide compelling proof of negligence.

A skilled Arizona personal injury attorney car accident lawyer will know the most effective way to create a strong case for maximum recovery if you or a family member is injured.
