Phoenix, AZ – Aaron Griffen, Unidentified Passenger Killed in Head-On Crash at 83rd Ave and Thomas Rd

Phoenix, AZ (March 18, 2022) – Two people were killed during a serious head-on accident in Phoenix on Thursday, March 17th. 

At about 9:00 p.m., police were dispatched to the scene in the area of Thomas Road and 83rd Avenue where an eastbound pick-up truck had drifted into the westbound lane and collided with a sedan. The impact left one of the vehicles upside down. 

The driver of the sedan, 40-year-old Aaron Griffen, and his passenger, an unidentified male, both died at the scene. 

Police have not released any information about the truck driver.  

According to preliminary information, impairment is not a factor. 

Police had traffic in the area barricaded off late into Friday morning due to the continuing investigation.
