In almost all car accidents, determining the at-fault driver is of paramount importance. When a passenger is injured, however, the overwhelming probability is that the fault lies with the driver of their vehicle, the driver of the other vehicle, or some outside condition over which a passenger has absolutely no control and for which they have no legal responsibility.
Due to this, passengers normally have no liability in an accident. The important question for them is which person and/or insurance carrier is responsible for their damages, including hospital and medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering, and other losses as well.
As an injured passenger, a car insurance company is sure to play a part in recovering financial compensation for their losses. The rules surrounding these types of accidents are complicated, so victims should speak with an attorney as soon as possible after being injured as a passenger in a car accident.
