Glendale, AZ (August 16, 2022) – A pregnant woman and her unborn baby died and six more people sustained injuries during a head-on collision on Sunday, August 14th in Glendale.

At about 6:30 p.m., in the area of Northern Avenue and 67th Avenue when the driver of a pick-up truck made a lefthand turn and collided with a sedan.

There were five occupants in the sedan, 34-year-old Bridgette Lee Armijo, three children, and an adult male.

EMTs transported Armijo to a local hospital, but she and her unborn child died from their injuries.

The four remaining occupants were taken by ambulance to an area hospital in non-critical conditions. The pick-up was carrying three people, one of whom was a child.  The two adults were hospitalized with non-critical injuries. The child was unharmed during the impact.

Police are working to determine who had the right-of-way and if impairment or speed were factors.

We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim, Mrs. Bridgette Lee Armijo, at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.

Wrongful Deaths in Arizona

In Arizona, a wrongful death case may be filed by a surviving child, spouse, or parent against the agency, person, or business that behaved negligently, maliciously, recklessly, or in such a fashion as to cause the victim’s death. The majority of Arizona wrongful death claims have their roots in motor vehicle accidents, pedestrian or bicycle accidents, accidents caused by faulty products, and job site accidents.

The specified surviving family members are usually eligible to seek compensation for their losses. Some losses, such as medical bills and lost earnings, are consistent in wrongful death claims. There are other forms of losses, however, that are specific to each claim and are based on the claimant’s relationship with the deceased.
