Construction Site Accidents in Arizona

Hosting over 1.5 million residents and counting, Maricopa County has the fifth largest population of any county in the United States; one that continues to grow every single day. Predictive calculations suggest that, by the year 2025, Maricopa County will be home to more than 2.2 million people. This rate of expansion means development, and development means a boost in construction jobs, which is fantastic news for the state’s economy. More construction jobs, however, also lead to more accidents.

For most people, getting up in the morning and going to work without worrying about their safety is the norm. In the construction industry, a worker’s experience is far different. Construction and its related fields are some of the most dangerous industries in the United States, and, on a daily basis, workers face numerous perils that could endanger their lives, stable home life, financial future, and health.

The heavy machinery and dangerous equipment so ubiquitous on job sites can be treacherous to workers. Maricopa County construction site injuries can be the result of defective scaffolding, falling tools or objects, faulty equipment, motor vehicle accidents, electrocution, trip or slip-and-fall accidents, explosions, and OSHA safety violations committed by other workers, and multiple other factors.

Workers of any skill level are beset on all sides by potential accidents in any area of the job site. Repeated exposure to a toxic chemical can cause an occupational illness. A steel beam could fall from high up, hitting a worker on the head resulting in a traumatic brain injury. Stairs or trenches can collapse, hurting or killing a susceptible worker. On a job site, these life-threatening possibilities are in no short supply.
