HomeBlogPhoenix, AZ – Two Injured in Apartment Construction Fire at Cave Creek Rd and Bell Rd

Phoenix, AZ (May 30, 2022) – Firefighters from several different agencies fought an apartment fire overnight in north Phoenix that caused injuries to two people.

An official with the Phoenix Fire Department said the fire began at about 12:00 a.m. on Monday, May 30th in the area of Bell Road and Cave Creek Road.

Rescuers responded to the scene after receiving reports of flames coming out of an apartment complex. Upon their arrival, fire crews located a fully involved wood-framed apartment complex that was under construction.

Smoke eaters battled the fire by attacking the flames with elevated streams, a common defensive strategy,

According to the captain, some spot fires occurred due to embers being carried by strong winds. Crews sent to nearby structures ensured that all spot fires were extinguished.

Two people sustained burn injuries in the fire and were transferred to an area hospital for treatment. No firefighters were injured.

One displaced family is receiving assistance from the Red Cross.

Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the fire.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.

Construction Site Injuries in Arizona

With more than 1.5 million residents, Phoenix has the fifth largest population in the United States, and it gets bigger every single day. Predictive calculations indicate that, by 2025, Phoenix will have a population of nearly 2.2 million. This growth means an increase in construction jobs, which is great for the economy. Unfortunately, more construction leads to more accidents.

Most people get up in the morning and go to work knowing their workplace is safe and secure. For those in the construction industry, however, it’s a different story. Construction is one of the most hazardous industries in the country, and workers face dangers on a daily basis that can endanger their lives, health, stable home life, and their financial future.

The hazardous equipment and heavy machinery prevalent on construction sites can be dangerous to workers. Phoenix construction site injuries can be caused by falling tools or objects, defective scaffolding, faulty equipment, electrocution, motor vehicle accidents, slip or trip-and-fall accidents, OSHA safety violations committed by other workers, explosions, and many other factors.

Accidents can befall workers of any skill level in any area of the job site. A steel beam could fall from high up, hitting a worker on the head resulting in a traumatic brain injury. Repeated exposure to a toxic chemical can cause an occupational illness. Stairs or trenches can collapse, hurting or killing a susceptible worker. On a construction site, these perilous circumstances are all around.
